Resource Details: In Fall 2021 the Iowa Primary Care Association launched the “Donut Stress Just Test” campaign to promote opt-out HIV, HCV, and STI screenings among Iowa’s Community Health Centers. As of August 2022 there has been over a 4% increase in once in a lifetime HIV screenings at Iowa’s Community Health Centers since the launch of the campaign and have an anticipated projected increase of more than 8% by the end of 2022. Educational “swag” materials with the campaign logo were distributed in person to assist health centers with increasing screening rates, which included exam room posters on HIV and Hepatitis C, popsockets, badge reels, stress balls, and a provider/staff facing poster on the screening and re-screening recommendations outlined by the CDC and USPSTF. Quarterly health centers receive additional Donut Stress Just Test promotional materials for patients and staff to further increase awareness of HIV, HCV, and STI screening recommendations as well as social media toolkits for use on their social media accounts. Additionally, a “Donut Stress Just Test” tik tok account was created to further reach patients on the importance of these screenings and combat the substantial misinformation and stigmas on tik tok related to sexual health and these screenings. To date the account has over 70,000 views since its launch in November 2021. The Iowa PCA also posted information regarding the campaign on our own social media accounts and several health centers did as well. The PCA also introduced health centers to E. Claire in the Spring of 2022. E Claire assists with screening promotion during on-site health center visits and community events.
