Resource Details: As we emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic, Community Health Centers (CHCs) face critical dental assistant applicant shortages. At the height of the pandemic, many CHCs lost their dental assistants as dental services were shut down or significantly reduced. CHC’s need more dental assistants right now – and in the future to recover from this historical event. This workforce issue is spurring organizations to leverage proven strategies to advance and grow the pool of qualified talent, including pipeline and health professions training programs. We know that professionals who train in a CHC are more likely to stay and work in one. For this reason, CPCA is offered this webinar with the National Network of Oral Health Access (NNOHA) to discuss what it takes to “grow your own” dental assistant pipeline program. Also, CHC speakers highlighted their pipeline programs.
