School-Based Health Centers & Medical-Legal Partnerships: A Partnership for Social Equity in Child and Adolescent Health

Year Developed: 2019

Resource Type: Archived Webinar.

Primary Audience: General Audience

Language(s): English

Developed by: School-Based Health Alliance (See other resources developed by this organization).

Resource Summary: View this webinar to learn how your SBHC, through a medical-legal partnership (MLP), can provide patients with legal services for issues that directly affect their health, better organize your services and programs to address SDOH, and further increase the efficacy of health interventions.

Resource Details: Integrating health services into a school-based setting ensures more equitable access to health care for children and adolescents. Yet many barriers to adequate and equitable child health are rooted in structural problems that health care alone cannot solve. School-based health center (SBHC) staff are increasingly working to identify and address these social determinants of health (SDOH). To truly meet the complex needs of these young patients, health care teams can benefit from legal expertise to help navigate problems that go well beyond the clinic’s door.

Resource Topic: Social Determinants of Health (SDOH)

Resource Subtopic: Health Equity.

Keywords: Legal Issues, Medical Legal Partnerships (MLPs).
