Resource Summary: State Medicaid agencies are increasingly utilizing ACOs as an approach to redesign their health care delivery systems, and participating care providers in these states will experience significant changes in reimbursements and service organization/delivery. Through the lens of Hennepin Health, this publication examines key challenges, next steps, and lessons learned at one HCH program participating in an ACO.

Resource Details: On March 1, 2018, Massachusetts rolled out a new way of organizing its Medicaid program and has now implemented Accountable Care Organizations (ACOs). These ACOs will directly impact how health care is delivered to more than 800,000 people, and the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) has been at the center of planning for these changes. Read our case study examining how these changes will impact BHCHP and other Massachusetts HCH programs—and how these issues might be common to other states implementing (or considering) ACOs as part of their health care delivery redesign.
