Trauma and Youth

Year Developed: n.a.

Resource Type: Archived Webinar.

Primary Audience: Clinicians

Language(s): English

Developed by: School-Based Health Alliance (See other resources developed by this organization).

Resource Summary: Speakers share how to provide trauma-informed care to various youth populations and offer recommendations for developing responsive, organization-wide practices and policies.

Resource Details: Many youth experiencing homelessness are students, so schools are encouraged to address trauma on a system-wide level and offer interventions and supports for children and their families. Additionally, a disproportionate number of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) youth experience homelessness each year in the United States, and these individuals have particularly high rates of violent victimization and prevalence of trauma symptoms. The range and severity of health risks vary across subgroups of all homeless youth, and especially since the LGBTQ youth population is nonhomogeneous, their particular needs must be identified and addressed. Speakers will share how to provide trauma-informed care to various youth populations and offer recommendations for developing responsive, organization-wide practices and policies.

Resource Topic: Special and Vulnerable Populations

Keywords: Adolescents and Youth, LGBTQIA+, Persons Experiencing Homelessness.
